I bring a fresh perspective to our community.

I'm Calley Malloy, and I am running in the election this November for the USD 232 Desoto School Board. I believe my life experiences in both my professional career as well as my personal life have prepared me for this moment to better serve my community. As a hospice specialist in the healthcare field for the last 12 years, I have helped thousands of families through one of life’s most difficult moments. 2020 was especially hard for our industry, as lockdown regulations made seeing family members, often in their final moments, nearly impossible. Much like what school districts and their associated boards experienced last year, I spent the pandemic advocating for patients, families and nurses.

From an early age I have observed the benefits of the public-school systems here in the KC metro area. Not only am I a product of public education, but I am also the daughter of a public-school teacher and granddaughter of a college professor, who both passed on their passion of equal opportunity education to me. I grew up in Kansas City, MO and attended public school in the Kansas City Missouri District where my mother taught elementary school. I went on to attend school in the Blue Valley School District, and then graduated college from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. During my time at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is where I got my philanthropic start through the Chi Omega Sorority as Panhellenic Delegate and The Make a Wish Foundation, raising money and granting wishes for children all over the metro. I also have committed my life to philanthropic causes and various boards throughout Kansas City, including serving as the Auction Chair, Committee Member, and Executive Leadership Team member for the American Heart Association for the last 6 years. I was the Sponsorship Chair for the Alzheimer’s Association, board member for Cocktails for the Cure benefiting the Parkinson’s foundation for 8 years, active board member for the Heartland Cremation board, Alumni Advisor to the Lambda Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega, Director of Business Development at Catholic Charities Hospice, President of City Wide Senior Professionals, Director of Philanthropy and Engagement for Villa St. Francis, and past Lenexa and Leawood Chamber of Commerce member. I have a proven track record of philanthropy and believe in giving back to my community.

Public education can reach unrealized potential in all children, I have witnessed this on several occasions, even in my husband, whom was the first member of his family to graduate from college. He credits access to advanced public programs and superb teachers for his current career as a Medical Research Scientist at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. My passion for high quality public education led us to western Shawnee in 2015, as well as its small-town atmosphere and strong sense of community. As the mother of two young boys and Kindergarten mom, I feel now is the opportune time to put my passion, skillset, and talent to work by bringing a fresh perspective to our community.
